Title: Water Damages Caused By Earthquakes

Article: A lot of damage can come from an earthquake and many things can happen. An earthquake can spread out for miles shaking everything in the area and it can cause buildings to fall. Did you know that other states can feel the after shocks as well? Earthquakes are a natural phenomenon that can not be stopped. Scientists can often tell when one is coming and the only thing they can do for us is to tell us to evacuate or to get prepared. Are you under the impression that your home could never be affected by an earthquake because of where you live?

It is always good to have insurance for earthquakes because many states can have them whether or not you live near the ocean. States like Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi can have earthquakes or the aftershocks from one that hits somewhere else. You have to watch out for earthquakes because your home can get damaged from the foundation up. It causes things to fall off the walls, off tables, shelves, and it can destroy the value of your home even if it is still standing because the structure can be compromised. Even when an earthquake does no completely demolish a home or building, it can leave them severely crippled with damage.

Homes can even get water damaged because of the shaking of the earthquake. Earthquakes can cause water ways to overflow and sometimes cause flooding. It can cause water lines and gas lines as well to rupture sending water into or around the home and gas leaks can cause explosions and fires. You might need to have your home inspected for hidden damage that could be caused by even a minor earthquake. It could loosen pipes and cause them to leak. Just because you had no water or gas leaks before an earthquake tremor, does not mean you will not have any afterward.

Undiscovered damages like water leaks can be detrimental to a home. Over time it can or will get much worse because of mold or wood rot. A gas leak might be easier to identify because of the smell. By the time you smell water damage, it is probably because of mold. It is better if you have professionals look over your house for you so they can report it to the insurance and so they can make sure all the damages are found. When they get done looking it over they can start fixing the problems after the insurance records it and they give them the go ahead to do it. Aydan Corkern is a writer for
