Author: Aydan Corkern Title: Is Global Warming The Greatest Lie Ever Sold Article: You know, scientists can argue back and forth from now until the sun stops shining about whether global warming is the cause of the polar ice caps melting, the reason we are experiencing some strange weather at times, or the reasons floods have seemingly become more frequent and in places that usually do not experience them, but the fact is that we are experiencing these things no matter what the cause may be. Some people believe that man is causing global warming, some believe that it is just a naturally recurring period, and some do not even believe there is any global warming at all going on anyway. For the most of us who are not scientists, we surely do not have the answers to these questions, but for those families that have been flooded out of their homes, it is real and devastating. There are several places in our own country in recent years that have suffered sever flooding and some are experiencing it in the northwest even as this article is being written. Not only in our country, but it appears to be taking place in random areas all over the world. The coastlines of the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida were all hit when hurricane Katrina roared through a few years ago. People are still cleaning up debris and trying to rebuild. It has taken a tremendous effort for the residents of New Orleans to piece that great city back together, not to mention all of the smaller towns and communities up and down these coastlines. It was devastation such as we have never seen all at once and in such a widespread area. For many people who live in the mid west, some can remember the famous dust bowl drought that took place years and years ago, but nothing prepared them for the complete opposite side of the spectrum when thousands and thousands suffered flooding during 2008. They probably never dreamed they would be floating up and down the streets of their little towns in fishing boats to get to their washed out houses. Farmlands were covered in several feet of water in some areas and stayed that way for weeks. The year of 2009 has already started with some major flooding as was already stated, in the states or Oregon and Washington. Where the ground has flooded and receded, there have been huge mudslides because of the saturation. These folks are used to a goodly amount of rainfall at certain times of the year, but even they are getting more than what they are used to. It makes you wonder and be slightly afraid at the same time about what other devastating weather issues we could be facing the rest of this year.
