Author: Gaizka Pujana Title: Carnations. Really Nice Flowers Article: It is widely believed that the carnation is one of the world’s oldest types of flower. Today’s beautiful carnation has evolved from the ancient dianthus caryophyllus flower.

The original flower was a bright pink or purple, while these days carnations can be found in a variety of other colors including red, white and yellow and also striped variations. The carnation is one of the most popular and long lasting flowers enjoyed for its attractive colors and fragrance. This flower is known to suggest distinction, love and gratitude and is suitable for many different occasions.

A light red carnation usually symbolizes admiration while a carnation that is deep red in color suggests love or affection. A white carnation is usually chosen as a sign of love.

Fresh Cut Carnations via the Internet.

Keep Your Fresh Cut Carnations Longer.

Below you will find a few tips to help to maintain your bouquet of carnations for as long as possible. The carnations should be placed in a cool location and well away from direct sunlight. It should be noted that they will also keep better if they are far from sources of heat such as a radiator or even machines like a television set. It is also preferable to keep your fresh cut flowers away from cigarette smoke. Leaves under the water line in the vase should be removed and it advisable to cut off approximately an inch from the bottom of the stems, while they are under water.

In order to look after your flowers in the best possible way, it is recommended to follow any instructions that are offered by the florist. In addition, do place any flower food that is provided for your carnations, into the water. In a vase of water, carnations usually last between six to nine days and sometime with good care and the right conditions, they can last up to three weeks.

The carnation has proved itself to be a long lasting flower and this is one of the reasons that it has become such a popular element in bouquets and floral arrangements. This flower’s unique ruffled appearance and lasting freshness has ensured the carnation’s presence at many events and happy occasions. Is The Threat Of Global Warming Real?

Author: Carol Bell Title: Is The Threat Of Global Warming Real? Article: Anyone who owns a television, listens to the radio, or spends any time on the internet has likely heard of global warming. Media focus on the issue has sharpened in recent years. Many different parties have different opinions about the topic, but you are potentially right to be concerned. There are many concerns for your future descendants if the reports about the subject are true.

Fighting against global warming does not have to take a lot of effort or money out of your pocket. There is entirely too much emphasis placed on vehicles and appliances that are energy efficient. Not having the financial means to make these investments is fine, there are cheaper and simpler ways to join the efforts to help our planet.

Small steps around the home can help fight against global warming. If you are not using an electrical appliance, such as your computer, shut it off. As an added bonus, your electricity bill will decrease, saving you money as you help out future generations.

One of the easiest ways to reduce electricity usage is to ensure that all lights and appliances are turned off when they are not in use. Saving money might well be a side effect of this free and simple way to join the effort. Another way you can help is by making sure your thermostat is not turned up too high so enjoy the comfort of wearing a sweater instead. Just a few degrees can make all the difference.

Unfortunately, many individuals do not realize the many benefits to using energy efficient light bulbs, as opposed to traditional ones. This is another great way to save yourself at least a little bit of money, as well. A typical energy efficient bulb can operate for a year or two, making them last much longer than traditional light bulbs. If you are careful where you shop, you can find multi-packs of energy efficient bulbs for five dollars or less.

Don’t think that you have to own a home to wage a conscientious battle against global warming because renters can do their part too. It is simple enough to speak up to your landlord about a window that needs repaired whenever it is allowing cold air to seep into your home. Your landlord can further save money through changes in the hot water heater or the addition of an insulation blanket.

You may not have the financial means needed to purchase a new hybrid or energy efficient car; however, you will still want to take a close look at your methods of transportation. Many people love the convenience of driving, but everyone should ask themselves if any of their journeys are actually necessary. To better help the environment, try walking, taking a carpool, or utilizing public transportation to reach your destination. If you want to help fight global warming, you can easily do so by choosing to simply not drive three times you normally would during the week. The Power Of The Wind

Author: Aydan Corkern Title: The Power Of The Wind Article: Do you know what strong winds can do? It can tear a tree right out of the ground and throw it through someone’s house. It can rip the top of your roof in half or it can rip off the whole thing. It can come from hurricanes, tornadoes, bad storms, and many other ways. It can throw debris everywhere, and it can break open your doors. If the wind is high enough it can knock your car right off the road. When the wind is high and it is blowing hard it can knock off a stoplight right off the line. Some strong winds can move a person and even pick someone right off their feet.

This can last from minutes or even an hour and travel over miles. Sometimes these winds can get as high as the wind from a hurricane or a twister. It can reach speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour and can be referred to as cross winds. Wind can come out of the blue. Most of the time they come over water and it can be the aftermath of another storm. If you have a tree in your yard and it is weak, the wind can break pieces off it and drop them on your house, causing damage to one side or one big part of your roof. If you are inside your home, then you can get hurt in the process. You can have so much damage that it will cost you a lot of money. Most standard insurance policies do not cover something like this so you have to read the coverage really well. If it does not cover this, then get additional coverage and make sure you are covered.

Wind can be unpredictable, and you never know what is going to happen or how it’s going to happen until it does damage to your town. If you live on a farm it can tear up your barns and ruin your crops. Never go into a barn when there is a big wind because there can be sharp things that can kill you or can cut you really bad. It is not safe in a barn at all! Never work on something high up when there is a very strong wind outside because you can get knocked off your ladder, your roof, or right off your machine that you work in. Watch the weather channel to see if your area is going to have any high wind. Aydan Corkern is a writer of many topics, visit some of her sites, like

Author: Andrew Oke Title: Why You Should Consider Living Off The Grid Article: With the current rise in energy prices and people looking to save money living off the grid has become a popular alternative. The current recession does offer us some relief, but this is only temporary and at most can only last a year or two. When the economy is back under control energy prices are going to go higher than we’ve ever seen them go. Now is the time to think about living off the grid as you can be prepared for the inevitable.

We saw that energy prices were going to go up and we didn’t want a monthly mortgage to the electric company. 16 years ago we decided that we weren’t going to pay them any more and set out building our own renewable energy system.

One of the reasons why you should consider living off the grid is simply because you’ll be doing your part to help save our planet. By generating your own electricity you are taking that first step and reducing your emissions. We are the trendsetters here, and as we show that it can be done more people will follow.

I think the most attractive reason to many people for living off the grid is simply the fact of money. For an average family who spends around $200 / month (conservative I know) on electricity stand to save around $2400 per year. Imagine what you can do with that money? Many people spend it, but quite a few of them put it away into savings accounts.

I know this may sound crazy, but living off the grid can help you retire sooner. Don’t believe me? Just look at the proof in the previous paragraph. If you’re able to save an extra $2400 per year for the next ten years you’ll have around $35,000. That’s an extra $35K simply because you took the first step and started producing your own energy.

It’s not as expensive as you think either. Today you can get an entire system installed for around $12,000, but if you’re like us and want to save money you can build your own system for around $1500. Remember, it’s not why should you move off grid its why shouldn’t you.

The pros far outweigh the cons in my opinion, and I hope to help many more people realize a dream. It’s the same dream that we had 16 years ago, and that’s simply to fire the electric company and generate our own electricity. Andrew Oke is very interested in renewable energy. He has 16 years experience living off the grid, and has completely built his own renewable energy system. Visit his website at Living Off The Grid Syndication Source: ThoughtSearch.com
