I have been trying to figure out which energy saving lights to get for my home and I came upon some really interesting websites that provided me with the right information to decide on which green bulbs to buy There were some LED (light-emitting diode) lamps that I saw that were really cool, but they have the bulbs built into them, which makes you have to buy the entire unit I already have lamps that I absolutely adore so I just needed some bulbs for in my living room However, a friend of mine was looking for a recycled/natural lamp And I was able to help her find glass, plastic, metal, felt, cloth and wood ones that were in her price range as well as environmentally friendly
The reason that I was specifically seeking out LED light bulbs was because I have kids around and a pet and I wanted something that doesn’t get hot and that could burn them by accident I also wanted something that is potentially less of a fire hazard Super bright LEDs are the only type of illuminating solution that converts the energy almost completely into light This means if you were to touch the bulb after you turn it off, it would be cool to the touch Isn’t that amazing?
This is also why LED lighting is already used in cell phones, toys and in indicator lights that are in a variety of ordinary electronic devices (like your coffee pot!) They use the most minute amount of energy possible to produce the most light Why else do you think since its invention that so many people have been working on creating the lighting solutions that are available today and will replace all other bulbs in the future? Surprisingly, I found out that CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) lights take longer to light up and they also contain mercury, which is dangerous to our ecological safety when it contaminates ground water and land fills Even incandescent bulbs have chemicals in them that are harmful But LED lights don’t! They are by far a safer and better choice
I’ve been using both incandescent bulbs and CFLs in my home A typical 60-100 watt light bulb lasts anywhere from 750-1,000 hours A CFL uses about 13 watts and lasts about 6,000-15,000 hours And I found that one type of LED bulb uses 7 5 watts of energy and lasts for over 30,000 hours! Just think, this technology is great for residential as well as business needs There are so many places that lighting is needed This is revolutionizing the world as we know it Take a look and find out for yourself how you can get more for your money
