The Great lakes in the northeastern United States have always been a source of water People have used them from every thing from transporting logs in the older days, to fishing and recreation up until now They are one of the most beautiful water sources in our country and it is hard to imagine what it would be like without them At times in the past they have become quite polluted, but many efforts have been made to clean them up, among them Lake Erie

This year there has been a much larger than normal blossoming of algae in Lake Erie It is really thick in places and is becoming a real nuisance in many ways It has interfered with fishing, swimming, and boating and those are the good points It is what it is doing to fish and to humans that has people really worried

It would seem that phosphorus is one of the things that is causing it to grow so rapidly It appears that the lawn and plant fertilizers that we use on lawn and flowers is eventually making its way into Lake Erie and giving the algae a big boost in growth Not exactly what lawn lovers had in mind, but then there are often unwanted side affects of things that we initially though were a good idea

This particular type of algae is deadly to fish and some small animals It smells bad and can give the water an unpleasant taste Apparently even killing it does not stop all of the bad consequences of this blue green algae species It is not toxic to humans, but it can give them a rash

Some water utilities are spending thousands of dollars daily to try and kill off the algae, but it does not seem to be eradicating the problem very quickly Even when the algae is dead, as it decomposes it uses up oxygen and causes what is known as oxygen free dead zone that can help kill off fish

These kinds of water problems are making one thing abundantly clear to us We have to do something about all of the toxic things that are put in the water We know that steps have been taken to clean up the pollution that has already been dumped into the water, but what about the stuff that is still allowed to get in there? Remember when you were kids and you did not want to swim in water kids are peeing in? Well, that is equivalent to what is being allowed to be dumped in the water we have to not only swim in, but drink as well How gross is that?

The Traditional Wedding Dance

Author : Jane Martin

For many years the art of ballroom dancing was some what quiet, but recently many young couples are learning to it, especially for their wedding day There has been a renewed interest in the traditional wedding dance, and couples are seeking out the right dance studios to learn how to do this style of dancing so they are ready for their wedding day

If you are having a reception after your wedding, there is usually music and dancing Your special first dance after becoming man and wife is magical You can make it more magical by being able to actually do some dance instead of just swaying back and forth

Go take some dance lessons as a couple, and learn to waltz or one of the other romantic dances to do for your wedding dance Also pick out a favorite song to dance to that both you and your future spouse will enjoy You should actually know what song you want before going for dance lessons than the instructor can fit your dance to the music

Just think of how memorable it will be to dance beautifully as husband an wife You may even astonish your friends and family with your dancing ability That would make the dancing doubly fun to have learned Search out a dance studio that you are totally comfortable with

You can also sign up to have lessons in a group, in case your relatives would also like to brush up on their dancing Group lessons can be quite enjoyable and a great way for the family to bond

The order of the dance usually follows a certain pattern For the first song the bride and groom take the floor first and dance alone Then for the second song the bride’s father starts dancing with his daughter the bride, then moments later the groom’s mother starts dancing with her son the groom For the third song the attendants in the wedding usually dance together And then in the fourth song the guests can join in the dancing, the attendants usually start asking the guests to dance or the parents of the bride and groom Remember for the most part the bride and groom are still dancing together

Some dance studios will even offer to teach dancing at the wedding reception to all the guests This is usually just an introductory lesson that is very quick The instructor should be someone who has done these quick lessons before for it to work smoothly This can be a lot of fun for the guests at your wedding

It is true that a waltz is lovely for the first dance that the bride and groom dances But all the music does not have to be waltz tunes You can shake it up a bit with the cha-cha, hustle, tango, rumba, or the very dramatic Argentine tango Oh lets not forget the foxtrot too All of these dances can be learned during dance lessons at a qualified dance studio It just depends on how much time you can spend learning the dances Just remember you can fun with the music regardless and mix up the beats a bit So enjoy the dancing at your wedding

How many times have you had a big water mess to clean up and ended up sweeping it out the door, using every towel in the house, or calling someone to come in and clean it up for you? Probably not very often right? Well, you never know when the first time will pay you a visit and it can be a really big deal if you can not start getting the water up right away

When you have a pipe to break that can leave an inch or two of water on the floor or someone overflows the bathtub with the same result, it might not be bad enough for a water damage crew, but it will have to be gotten up as quickly as you can Getting down on the floor with a lot of towels will do the trick, but there is a faster and easier way

You can invest in a fairly large wet/dry vacuum cleaner for about a hundred dollars or less that can make some water messes not such a big deal Now obviously a wet/dry vacuum will not be of much use if your home is flooded because of a natural disaster when there could be many inches of water, but for a smaller water crisis it might be just right If you have a basement you have not had repaired yet and it gets occasional water puddles in spots or even covered with an inch or so of water, a wet/dry vacuum can be used to get it up This can also work for small floods caused by a washing machine, dishwasher, broken pipe, or an overflowed tub

It is essential that when you clean up a fairly large amount of water yourself that you make sure to get it all and that the entire area is dried out thoroughly If you leave it damp and it takes several days to dry out, as it could when a floor has been thoroughly saturated, it can cause mold to start growing If this happens then you might have a bigger problem than the little flooding incident Mold remediation can be expensive and very involved if it takes hold enough Places that can easily grow mold are wet carpets, under tile, under linoleum, in woodwork, and sheetrock

If you are worried that you can not get the water out fast enough or dry the affected area well enough to prevent wood warping or mold, you might be better off to leave the wet/dry vacuum in the garage or basement and go ahead and call a water damage expert Some jobs just might be too large to handle on your own and it is better to have the clean up done right the first time instead of causing more problems because it was not

Author : Barbara Tobiasz

It has come to my attention that many of my readers have very little information when it comes to wall lighting I get contacted all the time by my friends in cyberspace who would like to have a general idea of what is available to them in the form of wall lighting Some of them go as far as to tell me what room they intend to install wall lights and include the theme or style of room decor, so I am able to suggest the wall lighting best to fill their needs

Now, switching over to the styles available to you, you will see that the variety is abundant This is by no means all that there is available in wall lighting styles, but this will give you a good idea of what you have to choose from Also, the information I will provide to you will include indoor and outdoor wall lighting fixtures

After you have decided on the particular style that will match the overall decor of the place you wish to install wall lighting, you will want to consider how many lights each fixture will support You can start at one light per fixture and work your way up from there

At this point you will want to explore the finish/color of the wall lighting fixture your are searching for Here too, keep in mind that the finish you end up with will have a lot to do with theme of the room

Although there are many finishes and colors to choose from, I will list the most popular These wall lighting fixtures are available in Black, Brass, Bronze, Brown, Chrome, Copper, Gold, Iron, Nickel, Pewter, Rust, Satin, White and Wood Keep in mind that with paint, you can change the color of any of these wall lighting fixtures to a custom color of your choosing
