One of the most popular toy ranges for this Christmas has to be the Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters, but what exactly are they? They’ve been kicking up quite a fuss in the toy industry, in stores and online, and are this year’s must have toys for children

These soft and cute hamster toys are battery operated interactive pet toys, giving kids all of the joy of having a pet to care for without the mess, the additional expenditure or the risk of the animal being injured They’re a great way for children to enjoy some pet fun without the heartache that can come from a real animal, and a good primer for children to move onto the real thing later in their lives

Right now there are four main Zhu Zhu pets hamster toys, namely Chunk (white), NumNums (Grey), Pipsqueak (yellow) and Squiggles There is also a range of brand new pet toys to look forward to in the new year No matter which of these lovely furry creatures your child chooses, they’re certain to fall in love with them

Each of these cute hamster toys has two behaviour modes ‘Explore’ allows kids to interact with the hamster as it goes about its furry business and enjoy its distinctive personality while it runs around! ‘Loving’ is the mode to use when your child wants to hold and cuddle their pet hamster toy In this mode the Zhu Zhu hamsters will coo and relax in your child’s hands, just as a real and well adjusted hamster would do

There are also lots of additional accessories and play sets available to go with the Zhu Zhu pets hamster toys, such as houses, wheels, play areas and even a car! All of these great additional toys and play sets will show a whole new side to the furry fun that can be had with the hamsters, as they go about their daily lives as real hamsters would (maybe not the car bit) The hamsters are excellent fun on their own, but even more so with the various additional play sets

These toys do get through batteries rather quickly though, so a good supply over the Christmas period is advisable, to cover the extended playtime they will go through at this time of year They’re furry and they’re fun, which is the simple answer to the question of why the Zhu Zhu pets hamster toys are so very popular for this Christmas

Andrew is a widely read music journalist, pop culture blogger and SF/Fantasy author. You can find out all about the Zhu Zhu hamsters toys and how to get yours online!

Fixing Smoke Damage On Walls

Author : Barney Ruch

Where there is a fire, smoke is sure to follow These two things go together like milk and cookies But, once the fire is gone smoke damage can stay behind Whether it’s from a house fire or a grill near a window on a windy day, smoke can latch on to paint and wallpaper with almost no sign of letting go

There are some cleaning techniques that can be done to fix smoke damage left behind If the walls are painted, try cleaning and repainting The first step is to try to scrape off any soot if there is some This makes repainting a lot easier if all the little bits and pieces are gone first The next is to clean the walls with a mild soap and water in a bucket Get a washcloth just moist enough to take off the smoke residue This will get a little bit of the smell out but this may not be noticeable right away Chances are if there is smoke damage on the walls, it is also everywhere else as well which makes the smell elimination part of the work hard to do After the walls have been cleaned let them dry for at least 24 hours

When the time comes for painting the walls, make sure that the walls are completely dry and a primer is used before the paint goes down Smoke damage can seep though the paint if it is right next to it Primer is a neutral color that is usually thicker than the paint and allows for only a single coat of paint afterwards This will be good as a cover for the residue that may still be around from the smoke damage The new paint will make your walls look like new and one might think that the smell of smoke is gone although in fact, it has just been covered up

Walls that are covered in wallpaper can also be remedied of smoke damage The wallpaper should be taken off first A lot of the smoke will be in the wall paper itself and not into the walls This is a good thing because the smoke damage can be fixed After the walls have been stripped, replace with new paper in your favorite color and design A smoke free home will be evident in a short period of time

Tiled walls, like those in the bathroom, don’t really have to worry about smoke damage These are unique walls as they are covered with a hard surface that can be easily cleaned of black soot and residue Also if a tile is damaged beyond mere cleaning, it can be replaced quickly, easily and without disturbing the surrounding tiles It’s good to buy some extra tiles to keep on hand when renovating just for this reason Grout can be scrubbed clean with a heavy toothbrush and some bleach water

Smoke damage on the walls should not be a burden on a homeowner There are ways of making walls beautiful again With some time and minor work, damage from smoke will disappear just as it got there in the first place

Barney Ruch is a homeowner advocate on water damage for Westchester, NY smoke damage cleaning and New Rochelle smoke damage cleaning

Why Rugs Are More Than Just a Floor Covering

Author : Gregory Garner

There are many people who think of rugs as just a covering for the floors in their home However, it is more than that It is more than just something that people put their feet on when they walk in your home

Rugs are made to provide comfort as well as being a conversation piece They can enhance the way the rooms in your home are displayed Once dull and drab, with rugs, the rooms can make a statement

For children, they can be a learning tool, using rugs that have alphabets or numbers Even those that have animals on them can help them to learn what the different animals are For those children who like sports, rugs in their room can give them a sense of pride in their favorite sporting event

If you have blemishes and dents in some of the walls of your rooms, you can use rugs to cover them up and no one will know what’s behind them, unless they decide to be nosy and look or an occupant in the house says something

Otherwise, the blemishes and dents will remain a secret You can find various shapes, styles, colors and sizes that will blend in with the rooms in your home to make them look unique They will provide a sense of creativity and openness

Rugs can also be used to reduce the noise you endure in your home Just imagine kids fighting and screaming at the top of their lungs They work as absorbers so that you won’t hear the loud decibels that come out of their mouths when they are screaming at the top of their lungs There would also be less chance of you being disturbed when you are concentrating on something

If you are trying to keep your marble and hardwood floors free or scratches, scrapes and scuffs, rugs can be used as floor protectors These things are easier to remove if the marks are fresh If they have been there for a period of time or they are just plain difficult to remove, then you’ll have to get those areas replaced

Replacing them means money-money that you were not prepared to spend at that time Also, safety is another factor in having rugs on these kinds of floors People can easily slip and fall if they are not there

Going online to solve these issues is a no-brainer Of course, there will be those who prefer to venture outside of the home However, being able to browse online for rugs is the simplest way to get the problems solved

Greg Garner represents the oriental rugs industry.

Whether it is your home or your business that your are moving or relocating, the results are often the same Huge amounts of stress for weeks before hand, followed by weeks of “Where is ?” conversations as others demand to know where their prized possessions have gone Yes, moving is draining and stressful, but you can get through this with a little help and even laugh about it later!

One of the first things to do when you know that you are moving, or going to be relocating in the near future is to by yourself a notebook and pen, or pencil, one that you can keep with you at all times of the day, and night Now night time might seem a bit off, but sometimes the subconscious has a habit of finding solutions or giving you reminders at odd times, and having somewhere to jot down a quick reminder so that all your notes are in the same place, can be very helpful, I find Choosing a book with dividers can be an advantage, as you can divide your tasks into the different sections For example, you might use one section for keeping track of those you have given your new address to, and another for possible new homes, or your daily to do list, and perhaps a different one for moving quotes and information from moving companies you might use – you get the idea By using a notebook, everything is kept together and you can refer back to see what you did a few days ago, because you will forget, believe me!

Start the habit of writing what you have done into your notebook, giving the date and the outcome of any phone calls, so that you can refer back as necessary and your notes will mean something This is also helpful for future moves, as you can refer back to your notebook to see what you did then, and make sure you have everything under control this time

Make certain that your notes make sense, so if necessary after a phone conversation, take a few minutes to summarize the outcome Yes, it does take time, but it can save you from having to make the same phone call to find out what you decided!

Get plenty of sleep There is no escaping the fact that moving takes time, and unfortunately the rest of life continues, so you just have extra to fit into a day You still have to go to work, get the kids to school and soccer practice You still need to make meals, and more than ever, you need sleep Despite the temptation to stay up later getter things packed, do try to get your regular amount of sleep The stress caused by moving is hard on your body, not to mention all the physical exercise of moving things around as you decide what to pack and what can go, so your body needs good quality sleep every night This will enable you to focus better during the day, and cause fewer mistakes

Try to have some fun We are all agreed about the relocation stress, but having a laugh about events, anything is good for relieving that stress, and this is as important as sleep Keeping a positive attitude too will help you get through this time, and don’t forget to ask for help if you need it Friends and family would often like to help, but perhaps do not have the good health required to move boxes, but they could help in other ways Perhaps your friends could look after your young children a few hours a week, freeing up some time for you to get more done You may be able to store some of your boxes at your friends’ homes as a temporary move, just to let you get better organized at home, perhaps some of your glassware that you won’t be needing in the near future Perhaps they could pick children up from school, or soccer practice It may only seem to save you half an hour, but that time adds up and can help you to get a lot more done

Stay on top of your health, as stress can wear you down quite quickly It is easy in the rush to get everything done to skip your check up at the doctor’s office, or to forget to get new prescriptions Make a note of these, and make sure they do get done Your health is important, so don’t ignore it

Keep a calendar close by you too, so that you can make sure you get your days and dates straight for all appointments Your notebook may already have this in, in which case, make sure you use it! Be realistic with your to do lists, and don’t give yourself a hard time if you don’t get everything done one day, just add it to the next to make sure that it does get completed You probably will not be able to cross off everything you hope to do each day You must not beat yourself up about these things, just let it go and get on with the next thing

You can only do so much each day, and moving it to the next day should be no big deal Just make sure that anything that isn’t completed does get moved to another to do list You don’t want to have incomplete jobs that you don’t remember about!

Return library books, and things borrowed from friends too, sooner rather than later Return all these as soon as possible – then you can see what is yours to decide about keeping, recycling, or sending to the charity shops

If you put items into black garbage bags, make sure you know what is in the bags, whether it is garbage, or to go to charity, so label the bags Just to be certain, label bags that are for the garbage too As you pack boxes label them too, and if it is lots of small stuff, perhaps even put a list at the top f each box so you know what is there a few months down the road when you need it again Writing content lists does take time, but when you consider the amount of time spent rummaging through lots of boxes for lost items, it can actually save you a lot of time over all

That’s enough for now, as you probably have many other things to consider right now too So, get some sleep, then tomorrow get yourself a suitable notebook, and a calendar if you don’t already have one, and get yourself organized Your organization will help the rest of your family, and will enable you to rest a little easier at night With all of your planning and preparation, your next move or relocation will go well, at least everything that you have control over! Things like weather are somewhat harder to manage! And good luck with your next move!

Moving and relocation is a very time consuming and exhausting process, and one which Steve Jackson, the author, gives plenty of useful advice at www.relocation-moves.com For anyone considering a move or relocation in the near future, this is a must read!
